International Highlights

I didn't start orienteering until I was 28, and the few events I ran internationally in M21 were done without any great success, usually way behind. But running in the classes for old men was different, and a few seconds often mattered.

This page will link to a number of wins (and near-misses) outside of North America. The purpose, as with all the other maps and comments I post, is to write things down before I no longer remember them, even though for some of these old races, I seem to remember not so much....

1. Swiss 5-Day, day 1, 1980, M35, won by 2 seconds (and 3 seconds over the third place finisher).

2. Skellefteå OK National Meet, Sweden, 1982, M35, second place, lost by 33 seconds.

3. Zala Cup, Hungary, 1983, M35, spectator race at the World Championships, won by 7:59.
